'toteninsel.org' is an online endless simulation in which a figure is ferried across a calm and endless sea. the work is a reinterpretation of the 'isle of the dead' paintings by Arnold Böcklin (1827-1901).

the simulation does not repeat itself, is neverending and is guided by randomness. still it is identical for every viewer at every given time.
it shows similar elements in different positions, viewed from different angles, forming an endless stream of unique compositions.

the work is available online, free for all to see and experience at http://toteninsel.org/
